K through 12 schools, both public and private, were also mapped to examine their proximity to retailers. Eighteen retailers, or 16.6% of all retailers, were within 1,000 feet of a school; 7 retailers or 6.5% were within 500 feet of a school. In total, there were 0.8 retailers per 1,000 of the population.
