Abstract:
Elevation Contours of the Napa River Watershed Area, 5 foot interval. The area covered by this data is referred to as the Watershed Area because it lies within the Napa River Watershed which is roughly the western half of the county.
The DTM is based on LiDAR data acquired in May of 2003. |
Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

To show the contours of the Napa River Watershed area which is roughly the western half of the county.
NOTE: THE DOWNLAOD FILE FOR THIS LAYER IS APPROX. 250 MB. The DTM data was mapped at a scale of 1" = 200 ft and meets National Map Accuracy standards at this scale. The data was originally delivered in 12,000 ft x 12,000 ft tiles. These were mosaiced together to create this layer. Refer to the dtm_02_200 layer for details about the source data.

DTM data were photogrammetrically collected using procedures intended to meet sufficient density and accuracy for derivation of ten (10) feet contours which meet NMAS. In areas where dense vegetation or other features obscure the ground, height data may deviate from its correct elevation and may not be considered reliable without further verification. Topographic maps were generated with procedures intended to meet NMAS for 10 feet contours and spot heights. Orthophoto Maps (with 1 foot pixels) were generated with procedures intended to meet NMAS for 1:4,800 scale mapping.

Contour mapping was derived by algorithmic interpolation of the DTM, using TerraModel v.9.6 software. Some line smoothing and manual displacement of contours was performed to enhance the cartographic expression of the representative data. This layer is 5 foot contours of the Napa Watershed. area which is roughly the western half of the county. For contours of the eastern half of the county see the "Contours 10 ft interval NON-Watershed area" layer.
Towill, Inc. provided all Aerial photography used for the compilation of DTM data.
The data was originally delivered in 12,000 ft x 12,000 ft tiles. These were mosaiced together to create this layer.
Updated layer to correct attribute problem. Random contours were mislabeled due to a rounding error that occurred during the translation from MicroStation to Shapefile format. This was corrected by Towill and re-delivered to the County.
