Abstract:
Topographic aspect of the Watershed Area of Napa County. "ASPECT" is the direction a slope faces. This data is derived from the digital terrain model files produced during the 2002/2003 Orthophotography Project. The area covered by this data is referred to as the Watershed Area because it encompasses the Napa River Watershed. This is roughly the western half of the county. The DTM data was mapped at a scale of 1" = 200 ft and meets National Map Accuracy standards at this scale. A 10 foot cell size was used for this layer. |
Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

This coverage was created to show aspect of the Watershed Area of Napa County. The purpose of this layer is to assist the County of Napa in the management and analysis of this area.
THE DOWNLOAD FILE FOR THIS LAYER IS OVER 500 MB ! The DTM is based on LIDAR data acquired in May of 2003. This layer was created by building a TIN model using the mass point and break line shapefiles with 3D Analyst. The TIN was then exported to ESRI grid format using ArcToolBox and linear interpolation. 3D Analyst was then used to convert the elevation grid to an aspect grid. The vertical datum is NAVD88.

Both this metadata file and the file Aspect_02_400 , refer to the same overall mapping project for Napa County. This layer covers the "Watershed area" of Napa County (roughly the western half of the county) and the Aspect_02_400 layer refers to the "Non-watershed area" of the County. Note that this project was sponsored jointly by the Napa County ITS and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - San Francisco District.
This metadata file is intended to provide general information related to the production of the project mapping deliverables. Additional details may be available in the reports cited and by contacting the data provider point of contact.
