Contours, Spot Elevations and DTM Files
The 2002 Digital Terrain Model (DTM) & Topographic (Topo) files are available
in two formats - AutoCAD v. 2000+ (*.DWG) and ESRI Shapefile (*.SHP).
The AutoCAD format data are sorted into two DWGs - a DTM file that contains
masspoint and breakline data and a Topo file that contains 10 foot interval
contours and spot height data. Both DWG files are included in one Zipped file for
download.
Note that in the Topo files, contours are derived from the combined masspoint
and breakline data and spot heights are a subset of the masspoint data, and
in some cases are derived from breakline vertices.
The ESRI Shapefile data are sorted into four Shapefiles -- masspoints (point data),
breaklines (line data), contours (line data), and spot heights (point data). All
four Shapefiles are included in one Zipped file for download.
When using Shapefiles, a functional DTM can be created by combining the
masspoint and breakline data and a representative Topo map can be created by
combining the contour and spot height data.
Note: The ESRI Shapefile data has also been mosaiced together for the contour
and spot elevation tiles. To download these layers, click the link below:

Only files for the area inside the Napa River Watershed are
available on this page. This area is roughly the western half of the county.
Data for the eastern half of the county is available under the cont_02_400 and spot_02_400 layers.
