<idAbs>&lt;DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;This layer is designated as the official zoning layer of Napa County, to be used in drafting the Official Zoning Map of Napa County, under Chapter 18 of the Napa County Code (§18.12.020 - "Official zoning map").&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN STYLE="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Historical context: &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;since at least 1993 (and probably dating back much further), the official zoning map of Napa County has consisted of Assessor's parcel maps with zoning boundaries manually overlaid on each corresponding parcel map. The manual drafting of boundaries on top of assessor's parcel maps was a maintenance challenge: it was time-intensive and prone to error during replication. Because a single zoning designation (AW for example) can span dozens of parcel maps, it also poses a challenge for members of the public who wish to research or analyze the extents of zoning within the county. Starting in 2022, PBES GIS staff began reviewing and revising the then-existing unofficial zoning layer to insure it's accuracy.
