1/2/2008	Orthophoto data released to public through our Data Catalog. Data includes 1 foot and 6 inch resolution, natural color and color infrared imagery.
12/18/2007	Board of Supervisor's approves update to Data Distribution fees. Data will now be provided on DVD for $24.00 or external hard drive for $225.00. Downloads from our Data Catalog are still free of charge.
12/18/2007	The City of St Helena contracts with Napa County GIS for GIS services, the first step towards building a truly regional GIS.
12/3/2007	New orthophotos are published in web mapping applications. Data will be available for download soon.
2/15/2007	Chris Watt, an ESRI certified instructor, conducts Intro to ArcGIS I class.
2/6/2007	Napa County GIS signs a contract with Mapcon Mapping for Orthophotography services. New imagery will be delivered later this year.
1/2/2007	Katy Wallis joins Napa County GIS as a GIS Technician.
12/2/2006	Maaike van der Vegt accepts a permament position with Napa County GIS.
10/1/2006	The City and County of Napa are awarded a CCISDA Innovation award for project collaboration for their efforts on the implementation of a new CAD/RMS system.
9/25/2006	Maaike van der Vegt joins Napa County GIS as a GIS Technician. She will be supporting the CAD/RMS project for the City and County of Napa.
9/22/2006	Napa County GIS and the USGS team up through a Cooperative Agreement grant to produce new orthophotography for the county.
9/21/2006	Chris Watt, an ESRI certified instructor, conducts Intro to ArcGIS I class.
8/30/2006	Napa County GIS hosts Intro to ArcGIS II class.

6/17/2006	Chris Watt accepts a permanent position with Napa County GIS.
5/2/2006	The first module of the CAD/RMS project goes live.
3/10/2006	Chris Watt, an ESRI certified instructor, conducts Intro to ArcGIS I class for County and City of Napa staff.
12/9/2005	Napa County GIS completes upgrade to ArcGIS version 9.1.
9/6/2005	Chris Watt joins Napa County GIS as a GIS Technician. She will be supporting the CAD/RMS implementation project for the City and County.
8/12/2005	Intro to ArcGIS II class conducted in the ITS Training Room for county staff.
8/2/2005	Napa County GIS and the Environmental Management Department are awarded an ICMA Environmental Land Use Control Tracking grant. Funding from this grant will be used to upgrade the Hazardous Materials web application.
7/15/2005	Intro to ArcGIS I class conducted in the ITS Training Room for county staff.
6/23/2005	The City of Napa and the County kick-off the implementation of a new 911 CAD/RMS program from Intergraph. The new system will be tightly integrated with the County's GIS.
4/22/2005	Completion of American Canyon parcel re-alignment. Much of the parcel layer for American Canyon was re-drafted from recorded documents to better align with the 2002 orthos.
2/8/2005	Assessor's Mapping Application is released for the Assessor's staff. This application provides the appraisal staff with desktop access to all the imagery layers in the GIS.
1/19/2005	The Parcel Summary Application received numerous upgrades including new capabilities and several new Data Elements.
11/23/2004	Permit Map application is released for the Agricultural Commissioner's Office. This application allows AgComm staff to query and display parcel and field boundary data. There is also an error reporting feature that sends maps that need correction to AgComm's GIS staff.
10/11/2004	Version 2 of the Data Catalog is released. The new version has a direct tie to the metadata in our ArcSDE data warehouse.
9/25/2004	Napa County GIS completes upgrade to version 9.0 of ESRI's ArcGIS product suite.
9/16/2004	Napa County GIS is one of 10 California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Challenge Award winners for 2004. The award was given for the use of GIS in the creation of County Service Area #4. See the Napa Valley Register for more details.
5/19/2004	Pat Kowta makes a presentation to the Wine Country GIS Users Group about the County's GIS capabilities and data.
4/29/2004	Orthophotos for the watershed area of the county are released! This is the last dataset from the OrthoPhotography Project.
4/28/2004	Sampling Grid application released for the Agricultural Commissioner's Office. This application allows staff to easily produce a sampling map and replaces the time-consuming manual process used before.

9/17/2003	Pat Kowta & Mignon Everett present GIS Showcase at quarterly County Directors & Managers Meeting.
8/18/2003	GIS Staff presents GIS Showcase to county staff highlighting GIS achievements and potential future developments.
8/14/2003	GIS Staff takes delivery of Orthophoto Project data for the non-watershed area of the county. Data is now undergoing quality assurance tests.
8/12/2003	GIS Staff is awarded an FGDC CAP grant that will allow us to create FGDC-compliant metadata and integrate it with our Data Catalog.

7/1/2003	Vestra Resources delivers final Roads Geodatabase. GIS Staff is now performing quality assurance checks and putting data into production.

3/17/2003	Napa County General Plan converted to GIS format by Vestra Resources. This layer is now available to all county staff.

3/6/2003	Crime Statistics website is added to the GIS Internet site.
3/5/2003	Napa County GIS completes system upgrade to ArcGIS 8.3.
2/20/2003	Migrating to ArcGIS class is conducted in the ITS Training Room for several county staff.

12/10/2002	The Assessor's landuse code is now publicly available in the parcel database. Refer to the Data Catalog for download info.
11/20/2002	The 2nd Annual Napa County GIS Day is held at the Administration Building. The event featured interactive demos, online web mapping and a map gallery.
11/12/2002	The Napa County Board of Supervisors proclaims Nov. 20th to be GIS Day in Napa County.

8/21/2002	Prison Industry Authority completes data conversion project for Napa County Conservation, Development & Planning Department.
8/20/2002	LAFCO uses GIS for SBE filing for CSA #4. This new approach saved thousands of dollars by eliminating the need for surveying work and speeding up the filing process.

8/21/2001	Board of Supervisors approves Data Distribution Policy.
