Description:
Abstract:
Airport Airspaces around Napa County Airport and Parrett Field/Angwin Airport.

Purpose:
To display airspace surfaces as delineated in the ALUC. The airspace surfaces are used for assessing flight-related safety impacts and guiding/limiting development within the airspace areas.

The primary function of the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan is to provide guidance to the Airport Land Use Commission in reviewing the land use plans and zoning regulations of the affected local jurisdictions to ensure that future development in the airports' environs is compatible with airport activities.

Supplemental information:
For a better understanding of how airspaces and airspace surfaces are arranged, refer to the schematic entitled "Fig. B-1: Typical FAR Part 77 Surfaces" in the Napa County Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan, page B-5. A PDF of the plan is available online at:

http://www.countyofnapa.org/WorkArea/linkit.aspx?LinkIdentifier=id&ItemID=4294968988

Background:
The Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) was established in 1971 and mandates the establishment of an airport land use commission by counties with an airport served by a scheduled airline. The purpose of the ALUC is to provide for the orderly development of areas surrounding public airports in the County. It is also intended to minimize the public's exposure to excessive noise and safety hazards and to ensure that the approaches to public airports are kept clear of structures that could pose an aviation safety hazard.
